Acoustic challenge
A 2,500 kVA generator set faced significant acoustic challenges at a critical facility in the telecommunications sector. There was a pressing need to comply with local environmental regulations and specific restrictions. The noise generated was not only a threat to the operation itself, but also to the harmony of the environment.
Strategic approach
Hiacoustic took a holistic approach to the challenge. The strategy focused on designing a bespoke absorption treatment to optimise the operating efficiency of the generator set. In order to ensure optimal operation within the legal limits, we considered silencers as a soundproofing and ventilation solution.
Technical solution
- Customised design
We implemented a reinforced treatment, paying particular attention to the optimum air gap to increase attenuation at the required frequencies. The customised design ensured that the solution was perfectly in line with the generator set's specifications. - Innovative resonators and elastomeric elements
Tiles fitted with internal resonators were a key part of the treatment. Skilfully bonded to the structure with elastomeric elements, these resonators contributed to a robust and durable acoustic solution. - Silencers and additional attenuation
A key measure was the use of exhausts providing 40 dB of attenuation, suspended from the ceiling by means of a support cage. In addition, thermal insulation was applied according to the project specifications to further optimise the treatment performance.
Results
The acoustic transformation was a complete success. The 2,500 kVas generator set was now operating within legal and environmental standards, meeting the expectations of the facility and complying with the applicable regulations. The additional attenuation provided a quieter and more comfortable environment for plant personnel. In this case, a noise reduction of 47 dB has been obtained. achieving a sound pressure Lps. 1 meter from the 55 dBA silencer.
