SILENCERS IN PARTS FOR MARITIME TRANSPORT

Acoustic challenge
We provided this acoustic solution to a challenging problem in the power sector due to restrictions on both ventilation and soundproofing. The need to mitigate pressure drop led to a strategic decision: to increase the free surface area of the silencers, which also had to be of a suitable size for maritime transport.

Strategic approach
Faced with this challenge, we took a strategic approach that involved breaking down the silencers into more manageable parts without compromising their ability to reduce noise. The key was to provide clear and illustrative instructions to facilitate smooth assembly once the components arrived at their final destination. As an additional measure, rain louvres were fitted to the front of the silencers to deal with possible climatic challenges.

Technical solution
As these rectangular silencers were removable, easy to transport and install, they overcame the size constraints of maritime transport and provided an optimal acoustic solution.

Results
The implementation of this strategy proved successful in terms of both logistical efficiency and acoustic performance. Not only did the addition of rain louvres considerably simplify maritime transport, but they also improved the durability and robustness of the silencers, ensuring consistent performance even in adverse weather conditions. These versatile and adaptable solutions provide effective responses in situations where transport constraints and acoustic restrictions converge.
